Little Things We Can Do To Feel Better

Be happy. Not because everything is good, but because you can see the good side of everything. Often it happens that we are feeling low because of many different reasons. During such times to makes ourselves feel better we must do something which uplifts our mood.

Feelings are something which is there with us always. It can be of different types. Sometimes it’s good, sad, excited and nervous. Based on different situations these feelings keep on changing. These feelings also affect our health.

For example when we are happy, it reduces the cholesterol level of the body. It calms our body and mind. It improves nervous system and memory.

When we laugh, levels of stress causing hormone adrenalin and cortisol are reduced. It reduces the risk of heart attack by removing unwanted stress.

Stress and Anxiety: Chronic stress can lead to depression. Increase risk of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

Anger:  Anger can result in increased level of blood pressure and heart rate, which can lead to high chances of heart attack.

Sad: Feeling low can lead to low level of serotonin which is neurotransmitter in the brain. Serotonin helps to defend against anxiety and depression.

Here is a list of few little things we can do to feel better

Go for walk: When we walk or run our brain produces endorphins chemical which help relieve pain and induces a feeling of pleasure.

2    Have favorite coffee or tea:  Having your favorite cup of tea or coffee calmly is in itself a great mood booster. As that time your whole concentration is diverted from everything else towards tea or coffee.

3   Listen to your favorite music:  Music is an important part of our lives. No matter what the situation is soothing music helps to calm and relax us. Dopamine “a feel good hormone” is released every time we listen to music.

4    Explore the nature: Listening to the birds chirping in morning, feeling the cool natural breeze, seeing the blossomed flowers, walking barefoot on the wet grass are few activities which connects us to nature. Doing these activities certainly make us feel refreshed and happy.

Watch favorite TV shows:  TV shows no matter what age group you belong to are liked by everyone. What better than watching your favorite TV show and enjoying it.

6   Play a game: Remember when we were kids playing games was always fun.  No matter whether it was cold or hot sun outside our games never used to stop.  So what if we are grown up now, we can play games and make us feel good and happy.

Laughing so hard it hurts:  When we laugh our brain releases feel good hormone which relieves the stress and pain. It makes us feel better.  For this you can watch funny clips, hear jokes.

8   When your favorite song comes on the radio:  I listen to radio often. Many times it has happened when I was feeling low, I made affirmations to myself that it would be so good if the next song played is by my favorite singer.  Voila! Believe me it has happened exactly as I thought. It has instantly made me feel good. If you listen to radio, I feel you definitely try giving it a shot.

9   Dancing like no one is watching:  Dancing is such an art that no one can stop resist themselves from shaking legs. Often when we dance we are conscious of how we are dancing. But sometimes we must dance like no one is watching. After all we are dancing to feel good, why bother what others think of how we dance.

1   The smell of new books and magazines: Smell instantly activates our senses. When smell is from new books, who can resist from smelling them.

1   Wearing you new dress:  All love buying new clothes. When you wear new dress that you brought, it brings good change in your mood. It makes you feel fresh, confidant and happy.

1   Singing in the shower:  I know not all people are born singers. But can that stop us from doing something which makes us feel good. Sing for yourself, listen your voice. As long as your singing does not disturb others, sing your way to feel good.:)

I hope whenever you are feeling low, you will try the above ways to feel better.
