How To Take Care Of Your Eyes



World is amazingly beautiful if you can see it properly with your eyes. God is great enough to have bestowed us with the gift of sight through eyes. There are many people who because of some reason are deprived of this gift. Those of us with eyes must take proper care of it in order to continue to see the world.

With the advancement of technology one bigger change which has come in our lives is that more than reading books, magazines people are glued to mobiles, TV, Computers and Laptops.  No matter what age group you are in these gadgets have become an inevitable part of our lives. For example office goers have to work in front of computer and laptops for long hours. Exposure of eyes for long hours to screen of TV, mobile, computer and laptops results in stress, strain and dullness of eyes. 

Most of you might say that but what we can do it’s required for work and other activities. Like we can find solution for most of our problems, by following certain tips we can get rid of this problem too. Here I am listing down few simple tips to take care of eyes.

1.     Eating right: For good eye health it’s important to take care that you eat right food. Proteins and vitamins are essential for eyes. Include green leafy vegetables, carrot, egg, fish, almonds, milk in your daily diet. Drinking fresh fruit juices helps to make eye sight sharp.

2.     Computer: People who have to work for long hours on computers can follow some simple tips to take care of eyes.
·        Computer should be positioned so that eyes are level with top of the screen.
·        Chair should be positioned so that your feet are flat on the ground.
·        Your monitor should be arm’s length away when you are sitting on the chair.
·        It is advised to look away from computer screen at interval of 20 minutes at some distant object for 20 seconds.
·        It is also good if you take break in between and move around from your place.
·        When you are working on computer, room should have enough light. This light should be behind you and not in front of your eyes.
·        Blinking your eyes also helps to avoid dry eyes.

3.     Eye Test:  Whether you wear glasses or not it’s important to get your eyes tested on regular basis. This helps to detect any problems in eye which can affect eye sight. People who use glasses should use good quality glasses or anti-glare glasses that help to remove reflections from front and back of eyes glass lenses.

4.     Wear Sunglasses: Sun rays make your eyes weak. Whenever you go out in sun make sure to wear sunglasses they help to protect eyes from harmful sun’s UV rays.

5.     Get enough sleep: It’s important to take 8 hours of sleep for healthy eyes. Lack of proper sleep and working late night results in dark circles and puffiness around eyes.

6.     Wash eyes: Every day before going to sleep make sure to wash your eyes with cold and clear water.

7.     Reduce time spent on screen:  Spending hours at stretch on TV, Computer causes damage to eyes.  Eyes become weak and can also result in need of eye glasses. Try to reduce the use of all these gadgets to few hours. Try to reduce playing games on mobiles. Instead encourage your children to play outside.
